Situation:
A foreign owner of the Allis-Chalmers
farm equipment business sought to exit the North American market
to concentrate on opportunities in Eastern Europe. An
Atlanta based intermediary introduced HRCo to a very capable
local management team. This team had a clear vision for
the future of the domestic business and sought an equity partner
to compete for the recapitalization of the business.
Solution:
HRCo structured a cash transaction
for the seller while providing management with an important
equity interest in the business and a modestly leveraged balance sheet.
Result:
AGCO completed several add-on investments,
raised additional capital through public offerings and is a
major competitor in its industry world wide. HRCo exited its
investment through open market and secondary stock sales.
